Oak Hill, FL - A 60-year-old Oak Hill man is in the Volusia County Jail on two charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. Volusia Sheriff's deputies say Robert Buchanan is accused of pointing a handgun at a mother and her autistic child Wednesday evening.

Deputies responded to an Oak Hill RV park just after 9 p.m. The victim told them she had  pulled up to visit her mother with her child in the backseat and her headlights shined on Buchanan's trailer.  She said he walked aggressively toward her with what looked like a handgun in his right hand. He was speaking to her but she said she couldn't hear what he was saying because her windows were up.  The victim said she drove away because she was in fear for her life.

When deputies arrived, they found Buchanan sitting on his porch waiting for them. During the deputies interview with him, he told them that the victim is crazy and possessed by demons. He said he did not do anything and was in front of his trailer when the victim shined her headlights at him then drove like a maniac around the area. Buchanan said he had his phone and maybe the victim mistook it for a gun. He also told officers several times that he trains law enforcement K-9s and would not do anything criminal.

Deputies arrested Buchanan and read him his rights. They asked for permission to search his trailer and truck for the gun. At first the victim complied and then changed his mind. They did not find a gun on his person or in the immediate area.

The victim's mother was also questioned. She corroborated her daughter's report as she was outside when the incident took place.

Deputies completed a temporary Risk Protection Order and applied for a Risk Protection order in reference to this incident even though he is a
convicted Felon. Robert denied owning or possessing any firearms and therefore none were voluntarily collected/surrendered at the time of arrest. Buchanan remains in the Volusia County Jail.
