K-9 Endo Gets His Auto Theft Suspects

DeLand, FL - Volusia County Sheriff's K-9 Endo is the hero in the capture of two auto theft suspects today (July 5). He found 19-year-old Hollins Mills and a 15-year-old male, both from Orlando, trying to hide from law enforcement in a swimming pool.

The auto theft took place early this morning at a Palm Coast dealership where the pair tried to steal two Ford Mustangs, crashing one in the parking lot and disabling it. The pair did get one car which Flagler County Sheriff's deputies notified Volusia County about. The stolen car was headed south on I-95 after they attempted a traffic stop in Flagler County.

Air One tracked the Mustang from the sky once it exited I-95 to I-4. You can see the chase by clicking here. Stop sticks were successfully deployed on the SR 44 overpass and the car exited I-4 at Orange Camp Road.

Mills and the 15-year-old bailed from the Mustang shortly after they got off I-4. They ran into the Victoria Park subdivision where deputies and DeLand police officers set up a perimeter and began searching. After about a half-hour, Deputy Whitson and K-9 Endo found the suspects in the pool and ordered them to crawl out.

Both teens are charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle. DeLand PD added charges of burglary for both defendants. Another Mustang was also taken from the Palm Coast dealership. FCSO is currently following leads on its whereabouts.

“This is great teamwork by our deputies and our neighboring agencies, especially Volusia County Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “This case is still active and we are following additional leads. I am thankful that no one was injured during the pursuit and that we were able to return two of the stolen vehicles back to Palm Coast Ford. To the suspects that are on the run, I encourage them to turn themselves in. We will find you. It is only a matter of time.”
