Florida Hospital Changing Name To AdventHealth

Daytona Beach, FL - Florida Hospital as you know it is about to go away for good.

Starting next January 2nd, Adventist Health System - Florida Hospital’s parent company - will change the name of all the Florida Hospital locations in Volusia and Flagler counties to AdventHealth.

Terry Shaw, president/CEO for Adventist Health System, says the name change is being done to bring more attention to its care locations and services.

"We are transforming to be a more consumer-focused health care system to better meet the needs of those we care for and the communities we serve," Shaw added. "Becoming AdventHealth allows us to be a fully integrated and distinguishable health system across all aspects of the care continuum, while also speaking to our Christian healing ministry, message of wholeness and our rich Seventh-day Adventist roots."

No changes in ownership or business structure are expected as a result of the name change, according to Adventist Health System board chair Gary Thurber.

"We want our hospitals and care sites to be places where people can experience hope as well as healing," Thurber noted. "The AdventHealth name so appropriately expresses that sense of expectation and optimism while also connecting with our promise of wholeness and our rich faith-based heritage."

A marketing campaign featuring the new name will begin in September, per company officials. Physical signage at the hospitals won't change until after the New Year.

Most locations in Volusia and Flagler will just see AdventHealth take the place of Florida Hospital in the name. For example, Florida Hospital DeLand will become AdventHealth DeLand, assuming it's approved by the West Volusia Hospital Authority.

Similar changes will happen at the Florida Hospital locations in New Smyrna Beach (AdventHealth New Smyrna Beach) and Flagler County (AdventHealth Palm Coast).

In Orange City, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial will become AdventHealth Fish Memorial, while Florida Hospital Memorial near the Ormond Beach - Daytona Beach city line will become AdventHealth Daytona Beach.

Adventist Health System is one of the nation's largest faith-based healthcare systems. Based in Altamonte Springs, it has nearly 50 hospitals and more than 80,000 employees.
