Flagler County Deputy Dies From COVID-19 Complications

Bunnell, FL - The Flagler County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) announces the passing of a Detention Deputy Paul Luciano, who died from complications of COVID-19.

The 60-year-old deputy began his law enforcement career in 1996 with the Bunnell Police Department. After working a stint with the Volusia County Division of Corrections, Deputy Luciano joined the FCSO in 2019. From there, Deputy Luciano served as a Detention Deputy Sheriff at the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, AKA the "Green Roof Inn."

“Deputy Luciano is a hero and this has devastated our team,” Flagler Sheriff Rick Staly said. “I’m asking the community to keep his family and the men and women of the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office in their prayers as we mourn the loss of one of our own. Deputy Luciano will be greatly missed by his brothers and sisters of the FCSO.”

Deputy Luciano is survived wife, Carrie Luciano and their children. At present, there is no information about funeral arrangements. The sheriff's office stated Sheriff Staly will update the community once that information becomes available.
