Palm Coast, FL - A Flagler County Sheriff Sex Offender Unit detective says he was in the process of wrapping up his investigation into 66-year-old George Proulx when he found out he was planning to leave the country to move to Thailand. Proulx came under scrutiny in November 2019 when FCSO deputies were dispatched regarding four juveniles who'd been reported missing from outside of Flagler County.
The juveniles told deputies they'd been taken to Proulx's home at 113 Brittany Lane in Palm Coast and were there for several days. While they were there, Proulx allegedly put an unknown substance into their drinks and then performed sexual acts on them.
The detective assigned the case first identified the suspect, then built a case built on toxicology results and a confession from the suspect. Proulx admitted to having intercourse with two of the juveniles and admitted knowing that they had been reported missing at the time he provided them with cigarettes, alcohol, and narcotics.
On Monday, June 22, an arrest warrant was signed for Proulx and he was taken into custody at his home at 5:15 p.m. Detectives say the residence was packed up and he told them that he was ready to leave the area.
The warrant issued ordered Proulx to surrender his passport upon his arrest. He's charged with Lewd & Lascivious Battery, Lewd & Lascivious Molestation, Unlawful Sexual Activity with a Minor, and Interference with Child Custody.
“We are thankful the juveniles came forward and told us what happened to them,” Sheriff Rick Staly
said. “Detective Crosbee and our Major Case Unit did a great job obtaining the necessary evidence to
build the case and get this offender behind bars before he could flee the country. Thailand is known to be an epicenter of human trafficking, so it’s no surprise that’s where he wanted to go. We pray the victims get the psychological help they need since this pervert took their childhood away from them.”
Proulx is being held without bond at the Flagler County Jail and detectives say more charges are pending.
