FCSO Deputy & Good Samaritan Pull Man To Safety After Severe Crash

Palm Coast, FL - A man involved in a severe vehicle crash is recovering in the hospital after a Flagler County Sheriff's deputy and a witness on scene pulled him away from where his scooter and the car that hit him were engulfed in flames. The accident happened last night (January 3) just after 11 p.m. on Palm Coast Parkway at the I-95 overpass.

FCSO said the car had crashed into the scooter, ejecting its driver, who landed on the pavement and suffered a severe head injury. Because of the man's proximity to the fire, Deputy Dalrymble and witness Christina Atwell ran to pull the man away just as the vehicles became fully engulfed in flames.

“Deputy Dalrymple and Ms. Atwell put their own safety at risk in order to move the injured man away from the crash and a safe distance from the flames,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “In the body camera footage you can hear an explosion from the vehicle fire just as they are pulling the man away from the crash site. Their quick and selfless actions may have helped save this injured man’s life.”

The driver of the car did not suffer any injuries.
