Edgewater Man Charged In Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol Riot

Edgewater, FL - A 60-year-old Edgewater man is charged in connection with the January 6th Capitol Riot. Howard Berton Adams Jr. was arrested Wednesday on a federal arrest warrant issued by the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.

Adams faces half a dozen charges: Obstruction of Law Enforcement During Civil Disorder; Obstruction of Justice/ Congress; Knowingly Entering or Remaining in any Restricted Building or Grounds Without Lawful Authority; Disorderly Conduct in Restricted Building or Grounds; Disorderly Conduct on Capitol Grounds; and Parading or Demonstrating in Capitol Building. The charges could result in up to twenty years in prison and fines.

Adams was released on $25,000 unsecured bond on the conditions he surrender his passport and any firearms and undergo pretrial supervision.

At this point, one other Volusia County man has been charged in the incident. Joe Biggs, of Ormond Beach, was arrested on January 20.
