Dump Truck Driver In Custody After Hitting Multiple Vehicles

UPDATE (07-30-21 4:30 PM EST): The Daytona Beach Police Department says officers are trying to determine how many vehicles are involved and whether or not drugs or alcohol contributed to the incident.

Bendayan states that a total of 11 patients were treated by firefighters who responded to the scene. Three were transported to the hospital while the rest declined transportation. It is not clear how severe the injuries are.

The driver will be charged with multiple counts of hit and run, but the exact number is not available at this time.

Daytona Beach, FL - A dump truck driver is in custody after they tried to flee the scene of a crash involving multiple vehicles.

Not much information is available about the crash at the moment. However, an email from Messod Bendayan, the public information officer for the Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD), says officers were dispatched to a section of International Speedway Boulevard east of the Williamson Boulevard intersection just before 1:00 Friday afternoon (July 30).

It is unknown at this time how many vehicles were involved and how many individuals were injured, if any. We will pass along updates as they come.
