31-year-old Jasmoray Baugh of DeLand was convicted of manslaughter with a firearm for the 2022 killing of her ex-boyfriend. Baugh was convicted of the lesser manslaughter charge after having initially been charged with second degree murder.

The conviction came Friday after a trial which examined the nature of Baugh's relationship with the victim, Korey Woulard. Baugh testified that Woulard was abusive toward her, and frequently came to her residence demanding that she let him inside. The two had one son, also named Korey.

The shooting took place on December 11th, 2022. In the incident, Baugh was said to have driven through DeLand looking for Woulard, and found him on West Chipola Avenue. When she located him, she shot him in the chest. The bullet went through his heart and lung.

For her conviction, Baugh is looking at up to 30 years in prison. That will be decided at a sentencing hearing on November 5th, set by Circuit Judge Karen Foxman.

In their case, the prosecution argued that Baugh shot Woulard dead in retaliation for vandalism to her car. She had previously warned Woulard over text that he was going "under the ground" due to the damage.

"The defendant killed the victim for vandalizing her car," said State Attorney RJ Larizza. "Her retaliation could cost her 30 years in prison. A sad testament to the human condition."
