DeLand, FL - A DeLand man is in custody with bond set at $500,000 after investigators say he molested a 6-year-old girl.
31-year-old Michael Johnson was taken into custody by the DeLand Police Department (DPD) on Friday (February 5th), charged with lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim under the age of 12.
According to DPD, investigators learned about the incident after the girl's mother told police on January 24th that Johnson forced the girl to perform oral sex. The mother said she went to her daughter's room and noticed that something was wrong. The girl told her what happened, leading the mother to call the police.
Police say that Johnson was known to the victim and was staying at the home prior to the incident. Due to the nature of the offense, investigators are withholding Johnson's relationship to the victim.
Court documents from the Volusia County Clerk of Courts shows that Johnson made his first appearance in court on Saturday (February 6th) and is set to be arraigned on February 25th.
