DBPD School Resource Officer Catches The Bad Guy

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - Earlier this week, School Resource Officer Willie Churillo helped in the takedown of an armed robbery suspect.  She was patrolling the campus of Turie T. Small Elementary School on Tuesday (April 20) when she got word that the suspect was running towards the campus.

Ofc. Chirillo put the school on lockdown. Soon afterward, the suspect - who was armed with a gun - came running down South Street on the opposite side of the road from the school. She gave chase and working with other officers, disarmed the suspect, and brought him into custody.

The suspect, 33-year-old John Holland, is being held without bond on charges of Robbery with a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Possession of Heroin, and Resisting Arrest without Violence. He had robbed two people of $75 a few blocks away in the area of George St. and Whitehall St.

Due to Ofc. Chirillo's quick action, Holland never got near the school campus.
