Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - Lightning may not strike twice in the same place but the Daytona Beach Police Department's (DBPD) Problem Oriented Police (POP) Unit was at the Best Southern Sun Plaza Motel last Friday (February 19), the second time since December 14, 2020.

Three Arrested During Daytona Motel Raid

The same people were not arrested. Last time, the owner and the manager were both arrested. This time, 43-year-old Leandris Scott – the subject of an open arrest warrant, and 30-year-old Alexandria Medina, were detained for questioning and searched, at which point officers found a silver handgun and drugs inside of a purse in Medina’s possession.

The investigation found that Scott was involved in an argument with another man,  40-year-old Jasone Bodiford, on the motel property.  During the verbal dispute, Scott fired three shots into the ground.

Officers moved on to the room that Bodiford went into after the shots were fired. There, they found 45-year-old Torranno Smith and 42-year-old Tyreemah Green. They also found illegal drugs left in plain view inside both motel rooms during a security sweep. That prompted officers to get search warrants for both rooms.

POP officers found the following illegal drugs during the investigation:

  • Cocaine: 17.75 Grams
  • MDMA (Ecstasy): 0.14 Grams
