DBPD, Daytona Dream Center Partner For Food Distribution Event

Posted

UPDATE: June 24 - Due to the officer-involved shooting last evening, we are sure you will understand that the food distribution event we were planning to host at police headquarters tomorrow (Friday, June 25), with the Daytona Dream Center is being postponed. We will announce a new date for this distribution event in the future. Please continue to keep our fallen officer and his family in your prayers. Thank you.

Daytona Beach, FL - This Friday, June 25, food will be available for those in need at the Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD) headquarters in partnership with the Daytona Dream Center (DDC). The event opens at 11 a.m. and will run until all the food is gone.

DBPD Police Chief Jakari Young says he plans for the event to be safe and efficient.  "We set up a safe one-way drive-through system where participants are going to remain in their vehicles and we will bring the food to the vehicle and put it in the trunk for them."

If you plan on going, Chief Young says you will turn on to Valor Boulevard from Williamson Boulevard and exit on to Mason Avenue. Motor officers will be on hand to direct traffic and keep things moving.

Chief Young says there are no requirements or restrictions on who can get the food and as long as you stay in your vehicle, masks are not required. "It's open to everyone so it doesn't necessarily have to be a resident of Daytona Beach, it's open to anyone and it's first-come, first-serve. We will be out there as long as we have food to issue out."
