DBFD Launches Drug Abuse Response Team (DART)

Posted

Daytona Beach, FL - A collaborative effort between the Daytona Beach Fire Department (DBFD) Community Paramedicine Program, the Daytona Beach Police Department (DBPD), and the Stewart-Marchman Alliance is already seeing results.  The goal of the Drug Abuse Response Team (DART) is to identify drug users and assist in bringing them to recovery programs directly from the field.

The team has completed eight field visits while seeing more than 30 individuals during the first weeks of operation. The clients are provided Narcan Nasal Spray that will reverse the effects of an opioid overdose in an emergency. They are also provided with an informational packet that includes resources on substance abuse and contact information for local assistance programs.

DART members talk to clients and encourage them to take advantage of the program in order for them to rehabilitate and overcome drug addiction.

If you know someone who may benefit from DART or would like more information, please contact the Daytona Beach Fire Department at 386-671-4010.
