Dahlia Ave. Beach Access To Close For 10 Months

Posted

Daytona Beach Shores, FL - Beginning tomorrow, March 1, the beach access, along with beach parking and restrooms at Dahlia Avenue in Daytona Beach Shores, will be closed for approximately ten months.

The current facilities will be demolished and a new county park will be constructed. This work comes after the Volusia County Council gave approval to the project. After demolition is complete, that property, along with a county-owned, vacant parcel, formally the Jasmine Motel, will be utilized as a coastal park with new facilities that will include a family style restroom building, showers, two pavilions, a bike rack, off-beach parking and direct ADA access to the beach.

The county plans to install a playground and grills at the park. The closure for construction will also allow for improvements to be made to the current seawall.

The new park is expected to open in early 2022.
