Daytona Beach, FL - The body of a diver who went missing off of Daytona Beach has been recovered, according to the United States Coast Guard.

The USCG says the body of 50-year-old Jim Evans, a Daytona Beach man who went missing on Friday (September 3), was recovered 8 miles off of Port Canaveral late Tuesday night (September 7). This comes just days after the Coast Guard suspended the search for Evans.

Evans was diving 30 miles off of Daytona Beach on Friday when he went missing just before noon. A call for help eventually went out, kicking off a search that included multiple agencies—including the Volusia Sheriff's Office—and covered 5,297 square miles in about 100 hours.

The search for Evans was suspended by the Coast Guard late Monday night (September 6).
