Port Orange, FL - The City of Port Orange has confirmed that they have relieved Fire Chief Ken Fustin of his duties following a misconduct investigation.

The city fire placed Fustin on paid administrative leave last Wednesday (April 7) following a reported altercation that involved Volusia County employees, including the county's public protection director Joe Pozzo.

The reason behind the altercation and other details about the incident have not been released by the city.

In a press release from the city about Fustin's termination, officials write that "Fustin has violated multiple city policies and his behavior goes against one of the City’s Core Values: Commitment, Adaptability, Respect, and Ethics/Integrity."

“Mr. Fustin’s actions were inexcusable and did not meet the city’s standard expectation of employee behavior, especially from our Executive staff," said Jamie Miller, Interim City Manager. "This type of conduct will not be tolerated as per our city policies and Core Values and has been dealt with quickly."

Fustin became Port Orange's fire chief in June 2016. Deputy Chief Joe Wulfing will serve as the interim chief.
