UPDATE: The driver from Saturday's accident where a vehicle flipped over multiple times has been identified. 43-year-old Joseph Myers of Orange City is in stable condition and is expected to survive. He was rescued by several bystanders. An investigation is ongoing to determine what caused the crash. EARLIER REPORTING: DeLand, FL - A man was rushed to a hospital by helicopter Saturday after a frightening crash sent his car tumbling beside busy Woodland Boulevard in DeLand. Witnesses say the car flipped at least three times through the air along the 1400-block. When it came to a rest, smoke began to rise from the car. Bystanders ran toward it to help. Witnesses used fire extinguishers to put the fire out. They then flipped the car over and pulled the driver out of the car through his sunroof while another man cut the driver free of the seatbelt. The driver was taken by Air 1 to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford to be treated for trauma sustained during the crash, which began in the 1600-block of the road. The vehicle first hit a mailbox, then careened into some ATVs that were parked outside a scooter store and continued to spin out of control before landing upside down. No other injuries have been involved. Copyright Southern Stone Communications 2016.
