Biker with 'WILL RUN' Plate Arrested for Fleeing Police

A man from New Smyrna Beach was arrested Tuesday for reportedly fleeing police and driving far beyond the speed limit on his motorcycle. Humorously, his motorcycle had an illegitimate plate that read 'WILL RUN'.

19-year-old Ashtin Jarvis reportedly fled from Volusia Sheriff's deputies on Tuesday at speeds of up to 145 miles per hour moving westbound on I-4. The chase began on Dunlawton Avenue in Port Orange, when deputies recognized his plate from another alleged fleeing during Daytona Bike Week.

He's said to have then taken off, eventually getting onto I-95 and I-4. He was pursued by the police departments of Port Orange, New Smyrna Beach, Ormond Beach, Edgewater, and South Daytona, as well as VSO deputies. The incident soon bled over into Seminole County, involving the Seminole County Sheriff's Office and Sanford Police Department in the ordeal.

Jarvis' location was tracked during the chase by police helicopters, which followed him until his eventual stopping point at the intersection of West 2nd Street and South Oak Avenue in Sanford. Police arrived at Jarvis' location and arrested him at gunpoint. Asked if he had fun while being handcuffed, he told police "no, not really".

Jarvis has been charged with fleeing at high speed, reckless driving, possession of a counterfeit license plate, and other traffic infractions. He's being held at the Seminole County Jail on $66,500 bond.
