DeLand, FL - Backpack Buddies is hosting its tenth Drive-Thru Food giveaway beginning at 4 p.m. today at the Wayne G. Sanborn Activity Center, 815 S. Alabama Avenue in DeLand.
The event will last until supplies are gone and more than 30,000 pounds of perishable and non-perishable items will be given away. The frozen meats, bread, produce, pastries and many other food products will be loaded into your trunk or the back of your truck by volunteers, who will conduct a no-contact distribution.
The program is open to all Volusia County residents and ID is not required.
Founder of Backpack Buddies and Orange City Councilwoman Kelli Marks said, "We are extremely grateful for our partnerships with so many of our community members who have stepped up to supply critical resources for those most in need in our community. We look forward to providing this food and nutrition to the community for the Thanksgiving holiday.
This giveaway is possible because of Backpack Buddies and Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida's partnership with partners such as the United Way of Volusia & Flagler Counties, Halifax Urban Ministries, Hunger Fight, and all of the volunteers.
