18-Year-Old Murder Suspect Captured, Two Other Suspects Sought

Daytona Beach, FL - An 18-year-old man, the suspect in a murder of 19-year-old Daemon Carn, is in custody while the police look for two other suspects.

Kevin Stokes was arrested sometime yesterday (September 16) according to Daytona Beach Police Public Information Officer Messod Bendayan.

According to the Daytona Beach Police Department, officers, along with United States Marshals, found Stokes at a Sunoco gas station off of Bill France Boulevard and International Speedway Boulevard.

He was found to have been driving a rented vehicle when he pulled into the station. At that point, investigators tried to make contact with Stokes, but he ended up attempting to flee, colliding with two police vehicles.

Stokes was quickly captured and turned over to the Volusia County Department of Juvenile Justice, where he remains in custody.

Daytona Beach Police Chief Craig Capri spoke to the media this morning in regards to Stokes' arrest.

And according to Chief Capri, Stokes is just one of the men they were looking for.

"There's two other suspects in the car that we're working on identifying," said Capri. "But I feel very comfortable that my detectives will be able to get this case cleared up."

Chief Capri couldn't comment any further on the other two suspects, since the investigation is still active.

The other question on everyone's mind is whether or not Stokes will be tried as an adult. Stokes was 17-years-old at the time of the shooting, turning 18 just a week after it took place. Chief Capri could not say what would happen in regards to how he would be tried, as it's up to the State Attorney's office.

Chief Capri says he also spoke to Carn's mother last night, who, according to Capri, is extremely happy that Stokes has been caught.
