1 Dead, 1 Wounded in Pierson Shooting

One teenager was killed in a shooting in Pierson on Wednesday night, according to a release from the Volusia Sheriff's Office. Along with the teen, one other victim was wounded after being shot in the leg.

According to the most current information from the VSO, the shooting occurred near 380 Main St. in Pierson at around 10:15 pm Wednesday night. Deputies were dispatched to the scene and discovered a vehicle that'd crashed into the woods along the road.

One victim, a 17-year-old in the driver's seat of the vehicle, was described as being unresponsive when deputies arrived. He had multiple gunshot wounds according to the VSO, and deputies immediately pulled him out of the vehicle to attempt life-saving CPR. Despite these efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:39 pm.

Two others were present in the vehicle along with the teen who'd been killed. One was an 18-year-old who'd been shot in the leg. His injury was described as being non-life-threatening. A third passenger on-board was not injured in the shooting.
