New Smyrna Beach, FL- Sharon Fox Gamble will present a beginners guide to raising backyard chickens at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, at the New Smyrna Beach Regional Library, 1001 S. Dixie Freeway, New Smyrna Beach.
Fox Gamble is an agriculture agent with the University of Florida/Volusia County Extension. She will offer tips on getting started, building a coop, choosing a breed, caring for chicks and adults, and collecting and storing eggs. She will also explain how to find out if your property is approved for chicken farming.

The library is open from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
