Applications Now Available For VPK School Year Program At Local Elementary Schools

DeLand, FL – The School District of Volusia County will provide a free, full-day Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Program during the 2018-2019 school year. Families zoned for the hosting schools and with a child who will be 4 years old on or before September 1, 2018, are eligible for this VPK/Title 1 Early Learning Initiative.

Hosting schools are Edgewater Public, Forest Lake, Friendship, Holly Hill, Indian River, McInnis, Orange City, Palm Terrace, Pierson, Sugar Mill, Sunrise, Starke, Timbercrest, Turie T. Small and Westside elementary. In addition, a program for pre-kindergartners with families zoned for Horizon, Port Orange, and South Daytona elementaries will be hosted at Atlantic High.

All sites will operate the program during regular school days and follow the districts school year calendar. Transportation will not be provided.

Parents may complete an application at their zoned school now through the month of August.  To participate, a child must:

  • be zoned for the hosting schools;
  • be 4 years-old on or before September 1, 2018;
  • be a resident of Volusia County living within the school zone; and
  • have a current, valid 2018-2019 school year Certificate of Eligibility from the Early Learning Coalition of Flagler and Volusia Counties – (386) 323-2400 or www.elcfv.org
