DeLand, FL - A 41-year-old woman is in critical condition at Florida Hospital DeLand after she was struck by lightning while taking a work break.

Summer N. Conner was "turning purple" before she hit the ground, according to a witness in the incident report from the DeLand Police Department.

DeLand PD also released a photo of Conner's phone, which was damaged during the strike. It's posted above this article.

The 911 call below sent paramedics to the scene at a Denny's restaurant on North Woodland Boulevard just before 6 o'clock last night (August 28th).

Conner is a manager at the Denny's, according to the 911 caller.

Police believe Conner was standing next to a tree taking a smoke break with a co-worker when the lightning strike happened.

The report shows that co-worker "felt a jolt of electricity" when reaching for the car door and that's when he saw Connor fall to the ground.

Another witness said it was "barely raining" when the bolt came "out of nowhere", per the report.
