Daytona Beach, FL - Searchers with the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, state wildlife and state forestry can stand down after finding a missing Deltona woman this morning at Tiger Bay State Forest.
VCSO spokesperson Andrew Gant says searchers were using sirens when Nikki Shriver was found around 5:30 a.m. a mile south of where her vehicle got stuck four days ago. "You think about snakes, you think about gators, you think about a number of wildlife or things that could've happened to her and didn't," Gant added. "She's lucky and we're glad that she's in a safe place right now. The 30-year-old Shriver is being checked out right now at Halifax Health Medical Center, but she had no apparent physical injuries, according to Gant. "An initial interview with Shriver indicated she was running and hiding from the search parties because she was paranoid and feared someone else was looking for her," Gant noted. "Detectives were also told Shriver has some survivalist background and has spent time in the woods in the past." This article will be updated throughout the day as more details come in.
