Osteen, FL - A woman was killed in Osteen as she was trying to walk across State Rd. 415 and was hit by a car on Wednesday night. The incident occurred at around 8:50 PM on Wednesday near the intersection of State Rd. 415 and Railroad Ave. in Osteen. 51-year-old Odena Redd, of Sanford, was attempting to cross from the east to the west side of the street. 43-year-old Ruben Rodriguez, of Deltona, was driving a 2002 Ford four-door northbound on State Rd. 415 and tried to avoid Redd as she entered the roadway, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). The front of the car struck Redd, and Redd was pronounced dead by the Medical Examiner's Office. The crash is still under investigation, according to FHP. Reports show that alcohol was not a factor in Rodriguez's case, and it is still pending whether or not alcohol was a factor for Redd. Copyright Southern Stone Communications 2018.
