Ormond Beach, FL - The 42-year-old woman who was found dead in Ormond Beach is believed to have been killed due to a case of mistaken identity in a contract killing.
Janice Marie Zengotita-Torres, of Osceola County, was found dead on Bennett Ln., near Granada Blvd. and Tomoka Ave., on Monday. For earlier reporting on this story, click here and here.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) now believes that Zengotita-Torres was mistakenly killed during a murder-for-hire scheme that 35-year-old Ishnar Lopez-Ramos initiated. Lopez-Ramos is thought to have hired 22-year-olds Glorianmarie Quinones-Montes and Alexis Ramos-Rivera to murder a woman who was romantically involved with a man she was in love with.
The OCSO says that Zengotita-Torres worked at the same employer as the woman and even looked alike. After learning that they targeted the wrong woman, the 22-year-olds still bound Zengotita-Tores and suffocated her to death with garbage bags. Lopez-Ramos, Quinones-Montes, and Ramos-Rivera have all been charged in connection with the murder.
