Holly Hill, FL - The Fire Marshal's Office is investigating after a 59-year-old woman was found dead on Tuesday inside a Holly Hill apartment that was damaged by fire.

The woman was seen on Christmas day and someone went to check on her on Tuesday because she had missed a meeting. That's when a friend found her body, leading Holly Hill Fire Chief Jim Bland to believe the fire happened on Monday. Her 2 cats were also found dead.

"She was a cigarette smoker and she was on oxygen," said Bland. According to Bland, the most likely scenario is that 1 of her cigarettes lit the oxygen and causing the fire. The windows were all closed, containing the fire to her apartment. No smoke got out and the fire burned up all the oxygen in the room, putting itself out.

Officials don't think anything about the fire is suspicious but the fire marshal is investigating.
