With Tropical Weather On The Way, Sandbag Locations Released

Volusia County, FL - Tropical weather will arrive here later this week, as rain has already started to fall over the county. Localities are offering sandbags to residents concerned about possible flooding.

We will add information here as it becomes available. Check back for updates. City of Daytona Beach Shores The City of Daytona Beach Shores has bags available for residents, but no sand will be provided. There's a limit of 3 bags per person, residents must show their ID, and 10 bags per condo association. Bags are available from 8 AM to 4:30 PM today and tomorrow at Daytona Beach Shores City Hall (2990 S. Atlantic Ave.) and Daytona Beach Shores Public Safety Department (3050 S. Atlantic Ave.). DeBary The city of DeBary will have sand available on Wednesday from 8:30 AM to 3 PM at DeBary City Hall (16 Colomba Rd.). Residents must fill their own bags and there's a limit of 10 sandbags per household. For more info call the Public Works Department at 386-668-2040. Deltona The City of Deltona will offer sandbags today through Thursday from 8 AM to 4 PM at Festival Park (191 Howland Blvd.). Residents will be given 11 filled sandbags and can have an additional 11 empty bags to fill at home if necessary. Edgewater The City of Edgewater has sand available while supplies last. Residents must bring their own shovels and bags. Double-lined trash bags work just as well as sandbags. Sand's available 24 hours a day at Station #57 (2628 Hibiscus Ave.), Menard-May Park (413 S. Riverside Dr.), Mango Tree Lake (901 Mango Tree Dr.), and Airpark Road Staging area (1989 Airpark Rd.). Holly Hill The City of Holly Hill has sand and bags available in front of the Public Works Department at 453 LPGA Blvd through the end of the week. Residents must bring their own shovels to fill their own bags. Orange City Orange City residents may pick up sandbags until 4 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the Waggin' Trail Dog Park, 1201 S. Leavitt Ave. Sand, bags and shovels will be provided. Residents must fill their own bags. There is a limit of 10 sandbags per household. Oak Hill The City of Oak Hill has sand available, which can be picked up between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. through Thursday at City Hall, 234 U.S. Hwy. 1, Oak Hill. Residents must supply their own bags and shovel. City of Ormond Beach The City’s Public Works Department is open for City residents to pick up sand bags until 2:30 p.m. today, Tuesday, August 30, and from 8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, August 31. Staff is monitoring weather conditions to determine if additional days will be necessary and will advise accordingly.  Each household may receive 10 sand bags.  Residents must provide identification. Sand bags can be picked up at the Public Works Department located at 501 N. Orchard Street, Ormond Beach. Flagler County, FL - Flagler County and it's cities are making sand and sandbags available to residents throughout the county. Residents will need to bring their own shovels to fill bags. “We want to do everything we can to help residents protect their property,” County Administrator Craig Coffey said. “Rains and flooding are localized so we ask that only those who live in areas where flooding is imminent use the supplies.” Flagler County will provide sand and bags at the following two locations: ·       Fire Station 71, 89 E. County Road 2006, western Flagler County ·       Fire Station 41, 5593 N. Oceanshore Boulevard, in the Hammock. There is a 10 bag limit per vehicle and it’s first-come, first-serve. The cities of Bunnell and Flagler Beach will provide sand and bags at the following locations: ·       Bunnell Fire Station 62, 1601 Old Moody Boulevard ·       Flagler Beach Fire Station 1, 320 S. Flagler Avenue, in the front parking lot. City of Palm Coast The City of Palm Coast has sand and sandbags available for residents at several locations. Palm Coast sand stations are self-serve – residents should bring their own shovels and be prepared to fill the bags. A self-service sand station and sandbags are available during daylight hours at:
  • Palm Coast Public Works Yard, 1 Wellfield Grade, off U.S. 1 just north of Palm Coast Parkway, Palm Coast.
In addition, empty sandbags (but no sand) are available during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.Monday through Friday at:
  • Palm Coast Community Center, 305 Palm Coast Pkwy. NE, (corner of Palm Coast Parkway and Club House Drive), Palm Coast.
  • Palm Coast City Hall, 160 Lake Ave., Palm Coast.
  • Palm Coast Utility Department, 2 Utility Drive, Palm Coast.
Then, those empty sandbags can be filled at these two additional self-service sand stations:
  • Indian Trails Sports Complex, 5455 Belle Terre Pkwy., Palm Coast
  • Seminole Woods Neighborhood Park, 350 Sesame Blvd., Palm Coast

In addition to the City’s sandbag locations, Flagler County and the cities of Bunnell and Flagler Beach have stations where citizens can get sandbags and sand. City of New Smyrna Beach New Smyrna Beach officials are keeping an eye on weather forecasts that could bring heavy rain to the area later this week. Preparations include providing sandbags for residents. City residents may pick up sandbags from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. beginning Tuesday at the New Smyrna Beach Maintenance Operations Department, 124 Industrial Park Avenue. Sand and bags will be provided. However, residents must bring shovels and fill their own bags. There is a limit of 10 sandbags per household. Sandbags are free for New Smyrna Beach residents. Valid identification is required. Sandbags will be available until further notice. For more information on sandbags, citizens may call 386-424-2209 during business hours. Beginning this morning, City staff will begin staging pumps in flood-prone areas, checking and clearing storm drains as needed, re-checking and fueling equipment, including pumps and chain saws. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates for their personal storm preparations. City of Port Orange The City of Port Orange has sandbags and dirt available to the community while supplies last. The bags and dirt are available at the City’s Fire Stations (see list below). Residents must bring shovels to fill their own bags. Double-lined trash bags work just as well as sandbags. • Fire Station 71 - 4200 Ridgewood Avenue. • Fire Station 72 - 6027 Central Park Boulevard. • Fire Station 73 - 1090 City Center Boulevard. • Fire Station 74 - 6701 Airport Road. • Fire Station 75 - 1701 Town West Boulevard. City staff are monitoring the storm’s progress and the potential effects on Port Orange. Maintenance Operations crews are checking and fueling equipment including pumps and chain saws.
