Daytona Beach, FL – The Wings and Waves Air Show scheduled for this year has been canceled due to a lack of sponsorships.
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and David Schultz, President of David Shultz Air Shows, made the announcement that the 2016 Wings and Waves Air Schow scheduled for October 8 and 9, 2016, over Daytona Beach would not go forward.
“Unfortunately, a lack of external sponsorships and ongoing logistical concerns prevent the university from hosting Wings and Waves this year,” said Bill Hampton, Senior VP for External Relations and Chief Marketing Officer. “This strictly is a business decision,” he went on to say, “where we had to make the very hard decision about how we invest the University’s money.”
“We support the decision not to move forward with this year’s Wings and Waves and look forward to possible future collaborations,” said Schultz.
Embry-Riddle says it will continue with plans for on-campus events including the annual industry career expo, alumni homecoming activities, and celebrations for alumni, students, faculty, and staff.
“We will certainly consider future iterations of the show,” said Hampton. “Provided that we have adequate sponsors and partners on board with us.”
