Wildfire In Daytona Causes Portions Of I-95 To Be Shut Down In Both Directions

Daytona Beach, FL - A wildfire in Daytona Beach caused I-95 to be shut down in both directions from Dunlawton Blvd. to International Speedway Blvd. on Friday afternoon. The Florida Forest Service of Bunnell first received reports of a wildfire near Beville Rd., west of Williamson Blvd., just after 2 PM on Friday. Officials responded, and as the fire continued to burn, the smoke from the fire began to impact parts of I-95.

The Florida Highway Patrol shut down the affected portions of I-95 at around 3:30 PM due to poor visibility. As of around 3:30 PM on Friday, the fire was 15 acres. As of 4:30 PM on Friday, the Florida Forest Service of Bunnell reported that the fire was 30 acres and 70% contained. Officials are urging drivers to avoid Williamson Blvd., Beville Rd., and I-95 in Daytona. The cause of the fire is still unknown, and no structures were considered to be in danger.
