Edgewater, FL- VCSO is reporting that an accused drug dealer that's eluded capture for more than three years is no longer on the loose. Narcotics agents arrested 31-year-old Allen Peterson at the Terrace Garden Apartments South in Edgewater this morning. Arrest warrants were issued in 2013 for Peterson but he has fled from officers attempting to arrest him several times. Agents with the East Volusia Narcotics Task Force acted on a tip this morning and placed the complex under surveillance. Officers knocked on the door Peterson was supposed to be on. He answered the door but quickly slammed it shut when he saw officers. They were able to force the door open and caught Peterson coming out of a bathroom. After Peterson was taken into custody, a digital scale with cocaine residue on it was found in a pair of his shorts. He was arrested on warrants charging him with sale of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school, sale of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a community center and failure to appear in court to face a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer. Additional charges from today's arrest are possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting an officer without violence. Peterson is being held without bond.
