DeLand, FL-Ever thought you wanted to run for public office but didn’t know where to begin? Saturday Stetson University will hold a day-long, free and non-partisan seminar on how to do that. Stetson’s Kevin Winchell says this is the sixth year for the “Politics 101” event. Winchell says he and his colleagues looked around some years back and saw there was nothing to really help the average citizen figure out how to make a run for office and consultants were charging lots of money to teach the basics. Winchell says this free event is aimed at debunking the mostly fictional messages sent by tv shows like “The West Wing” and “House of Cards”.

The free conference is from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Lynn Business Center, Rinker Auditorium, 345 North Woodland Blvd. on the DeLand campus.
