500_wadsworthsized Flagler Beach, FL - Flagler County will be dedicating the Wadsworth Park soccer fields to the late Commissioner Frank Meeker on Saturday. Officials will unveil a monument that memorializes his many contributions to the county during a ceremony scheduled to start at 10 AM on January 28, 2017. “Mrs. (Debbie) Meeker chose the date because it’s Frank’s birthday,” Commission Chair Nate McLaughlin said. “He would have been 62, and this is a good way to celebrate the day.” He served as a member of the Board of County Commissioners since 2012 and served as the chairman in 2015. Meeker secured funding for the MalaCompra Basin Water Quality Enhancement Project and helped finalize the Manatee Protection Plan. He was also a soccer youth coach for over 15 years and had a passion for the environment. “The Wadsworth soccer field was selected for the memorial dedication because Frank spent many hours on this field with the Flagler County Youth Soccer League,” McLaughlin said. The dedication will be held in a garden near the flagpole. Wadsworth Park is located at 200 Moody Blvd in Flagler Beach. Meeker passed away on July 22, 2016, having battled cancer. Frank Meeker
