Votran Alters Daytona Beach Bus Service To Accommodate Biketoberfest Traffic

Daytona Beach, FL - Votran announced that they will be altering bus schedules to accommodate the increased traffic during the upcoming Biketoberfest weekend.

Here are the changes to the schedule:

Votran Day Service

  • Buses will not be able to utilize the Intermodal Transit Facility (ITF).
  • Passengers for routes 1, 18 and 19 will need to board at the bus stops on A1A. Route 8 passengers will board on Halifax Ave.
  • Passengers on routes 1, 8, 17A/B and outbound route 19 will need to travel from Palmetto Ave. to International Speedway Blvd.
  • Passengers on route 17A/B may use Peninsula Drive and Silver Beach Ave. to A1A (as well as the reverse for inbound trips) depending on the intensity of the traffic.
  • Passengers on route 11 will use U.S. 1 to Fairview Ave. and left on Beach Street, but will not stop at Thames Road, Fentress Blvd. or the Flea Market.
  • Route 11 will turn onto Williamson Blvd. from International Speedway Blvd.
  • Routes 18 and 19 will not be stopping at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Richard Petty Blvd. or Daytona International Airport.
  • Outbound route 18 outbound will travel on International Speedway Blvd. to access the Volusia Mall.
  • Inbound Route 18 will travel from A1A to University Blvd., Halifax Drive, Seabreeze Blvd., Mason Ave., U.S. 1, and Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd.
  • Inbound route 19 inbound will turn left onto International Speedway Blvd. from Midway Ave., leaving the Volusia Mall.
  • Inbound route 19 will use a detour from International Speedway Blvd. to Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd. if traffic becomes too congested.

Votran Night Service

  • Night service will begin and end at the Votran Transfer Plaza.
  • Buses will continue to not be able to use the ITF.
  • Passengers must board at bus stops on A1A.
  • Northbound route 1 will turn onto Palmetto Avenue to International Speedway Blvd. to A1A.
  • Northbound route 1 will turn around at Vining Court and Granada Ave.
  • Votran bus service will not be available on the Granada Bridge.
  • Southbound route 1 will travel on A1A to International Speedway Blvd., Palmetto Ave., and stop at the Transfer Plaza.
  • Routes 3, 4 and 10 will travel on Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd. and Beach Street to Fairview Ave.
  • Route 15 will travel on Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd. to Beach Street.
  • Southbound route 17 southbound will travel on Palmetto Avenue to International Speedway Blvd, and A1A, ending at Raymond Ave. and South Atlantic Ave.
  • Votran bus service will not be available on the Dunlawton Bridge.
  • Route 17 will travel on Peninsula Drive and Silver Beach Ave to A1A (as well as the reverse for inbound trips) id traffic is too congested.
  • Northbound route 17 will travel from A1A to International Speedway Blvd, Palmetto Ave., Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Blvd., and will stop at the Transfer Plaza.

Votran Sunday Service

  • Service interruptions on Sunday, Oct. 22 are possible.
  • Buses will operate from the ITF.
  • Some routes may be detoured.
  • Route 10 will travel on International Speedway Blvd. but will not go to the Daytona Beach Flea Market.

If you plan on using Votran bus services this weekend, you are asked to plan ahead accordingly. The Votran website provides up-to-date information on service.

“Heavy event traffic is anticipated, and Votran riders should expect some delays, interruptions and possible route deviations,” said Votran General Manager, Steve Sherrer. “Detours will be activated as dictated by traffic conditions, and we estimate that will begin around 11:30 a.m. each day. We regret the inconvenience these changes may cause to our passengers.”
