Voter Registration Deadline Is Tomorrow

Deland, FL - The deadline to register to vote in the November 6 general election is tomorrow, October 9th. Volusia County Supervisor of Elections Lisa Lewis said her office is open until 7 p.m. for any last minute people who want to register to vote. Lewis also said that even though today is Columbus Day, a federally recognized holiday, the office is open until 5 this afternoon. Another way to register, according to Lewis is online. She said if you have a Florida license or ID you can register to vote or make updates to your registration. Lewis said the system pulls your signature from DMV or DHS to put on your voter's registration application. Lewis said that vote-by-mail ballots went out last week and if you requested one, you should be seeing it soon. If you didn't request a vote-by-mail ballot, Lewis said you still can through October 31. Sample ballots are going out this week. Lewis suggests that voters take a long look at the ballot because it's a long ballot, 19 inches long and two-sided. The length is mostly due to the twelve state amendments in addition to the regular office positions.
