Volusia's Graduation Rate Up Again In New Report

Volusia County, FL-A new report from the State Department of Education shows Volusia County Public Schools graduation rate for 2015-16 was 76%. School officials say that's up 15% over the last five years and up 4.4% over last year. A press release from local schools says the Volusia rate is the highest increase of nearby counties and beats the state increase. Two schools posted double-digit gains: Atlantic High was up 14.3% and Taylor Middle-High was up 10.3%. The news release from Volusia County Public Schools included a statement from Superintendent Tom Russell who said,  “I am very proud of our students, teachers and administrators for their achievements,” stated Superintendent Tom Russell.  “We are excited to see the increases this year which are the result of our focus on graduation assurance.”   2016 Southern Stone Communications Copyright
