Deltona, FL – Update: The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office (VCSO) is still seeking the main suspect in a Deltona carjacking that occurred earlier this month.

Gustavo Rivera, 36, is wanted by the VCSO for holding a gun to the carjacking victim’s head during the August 17 robbery on Merrimac Street in Deltona. Rivera is being charged with carjacking using a gun, using and displaying a gun during a felony offense and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. If you have information on Rivera’s location, you are asked not approach him but to call 911 or anonymously tip police through Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS or online here. Tips may qualify you for a $5,000 reward.

Rivera’s accomplice, 38-year-old Walter R. Hager, has been in custody since August 19 for a charge unrelated to the carjacking. After an investigation, Hager was charged with principal to carjacking using a gun and grand theft auto on August 25. VCSO detectives think Hager drove to the carjacking scene with Rivera and drove away in the victim’s truck when Rivera held a gun to the victim’s head. Hager is also facing charges of possession of a schedule IV substance with the intent to sell, failure to register as a career offender, two counts of possession of a schedule II substance and one count of possession of Hydromorphone.
