Volusia Emergency Management Chief Honored By Red Cross For Service

Volusia County, FL - Volusia County Emergency Management Director Jim Judge has received the Presidential Award for Excellence from the American Red Cross in Washington D.C. for his 25 years of volunteer service. The Presidential Award for Excellence is given each year to American Red Cross employees and volunteers who demonstrate superior job performance that exemplifies the organization’s priorities and mission. Volusia County Community Information announced this month that Judge received the award. Judge is an original member of the American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council (SAC), and he has led a variety of reviews about Health and Safety Services (PHSS) content and has chaired several sub-councils. He currently leads the Preparedness sub-council of the Red Cross Emergency Medical Response course. Judge has also worked with several youth preparedness programs, such as Monster Guard, an app that teaches kids (ages 7-11) about how to prepare for real-life emergencies both in and outside the home. A team led by Judge has worked on the Home Fire Escape Planning for Individuals with Disabilities, Access, or Functional Needs program. Judge’s team also collaborated with groups from across Red Cross to review active shooter response training.
