Volusia County's Junior Lifeguard Camp Is Back This Summer

Volusia County, FL- Does your child have a love for the beach, swimming, surfing, and running? Volusia County Junior Lifeguard camp is back this year.  Since 1990, this program has been teaching kids ages 9-15 the importance of team work, ocean swimming, life saving skills, discipline, sportsmanship and much more.

Junior Lifeguards will participate in daily swimming, running, surfing and paddling skills. As well as receive a variety of beach related actives, including marine science, beach conservation, and environmental hazards.

Swimming skills are a must for this program!

Here are the additional requirements:

  • Ages: 9-15
  • Swim 100 yards in 2 minutes, 15 seconds
  • Tread water for 5 minutes
  • Swim underwater for 10 feet

Tryouts:

Saturday, May 7th:

Port Orange YMCA 8-10 am

Deltona YMCA 11 am- 1pm

DeLand YMCA 2-4pm

Saturday, May 14th:

Ormond Beach YMCA: 8-10am

Holly Hill YMCA: 11am-1pm

Port Orange YMCA: 2-4pm

Saturday, May 21st:

Holly Hill YMCA: 8-10am

Edgewater YMCA: 11am-1pm

Ormond Beach YMCA: 2-4pm

Saturday, May 28th:

Edgewater YMCA: 8-10am

DeLand YMCA: 11am-1pm

Port Orange YMCA: 2-4pm

*New Juniors must pass the physical tryouts before registering online

*Returning Juniors do not have to take the physical test.

Camp Dates:

Junior Lifeguard camps are held Monday-Friday.  Parent drop off is between 8-8:30am and parent pick up is between 1:30-2pm.
