Volusia County, FL-More patrols will be on the roads this weekend looking for impaired drivers. Volusia County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Gary Davidson said DUI saturation patrols will be out in force.

Davidson said additional traffic during the holiday period leads to the additional patrols. Saturation patrols are used throughout the year but are stepped up during holiday times to keep the public safe.

Law enforcement can't do the job of getting impaired drivers off the roads without the public's help. Davidson said the public can help by following the rules of the road and not getting behind the wheel while impaired.

Davidson reminds you that people arrested for DUI face some serious consequences, including sitting in jail, time, money and the possibility of losing your job.

The next saturation patrol kicks off on Friday, just in time for the start of the Memorial Day holiday weekend. The DUI enforcement operation will continue through Monday with a high visibility concentration of Sheriff’s motors and traffic units that will target traffic trouble spots throughout the county.

The project is funded by the Florida Department of Transportation.
