Volusia County Council Approves Grants To Combat Sexual Violence & Drugs

Volusia County, FL - The Volusia County Council approved the Excellence in 2017-18 Sexual Response Project (ESARP) grant and the 2017 High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program grant at their meeting on Thursday, March 16.

The ESARP is a joint effort of the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence and the criminal justice community. It's funded by the Department of Justice, Office on Violence Against Women. ESARP offers free training for law enforcement, using the most up-to-date strategies. Find more information about ESARP here.

According to the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, the HIDTA program was created by Congress with the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1998. It provides assistance to law enforcement agencies that operate in areas recognized as critical drug-trafficking regions. Find more information about the HIDTA here.
