Volusia County, FL - Volusia County Beach Safety has officially been reaccredited by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA).

Volusia County has recently confirmed that its Beach Safety Division received high marks during its most recent accreditation process. In December, independent assessors with the CFA reviewed the policies, procedures, management, and operating practices at Volusia County’s Beach Safety Division.

The result of the review earned Beach Safety its fifth reaccreditation by the CFA. The division has been accredited by the CFA since 2006. Volusia County Beach Safety has also been accredited as an advanced lifesaving agency by the U.S. Lifesaving Association.

“Earning this accreditation again is a testament to the commitment, dedication and hard work of the entire team of lifeguards, law enforcement officers, and support staff,” said the director of Volusia County Beach Safety Ray Manchester.

Volusia County Beach Safety serves over 8 million people annually. Each employee has been cross-trained and triple-certified as law enforcement officers, lifeguards, and emergency medical technicians.

These employees run four lifeguard stations, one lifeguard substation, four control towers, and as many as 90 portable lifeguard towers. Volusia County Beach Safety operations are carried out by 15 lifeguard trucks, 12 all-terrain vehicles, four jeeps, seven personal watercraft, and one 21-foot rescue boat.
