Jellyfish - Multiple

Volusia County, FL- Lifeguards in Volusia County dealt with 256 jellyfish sting complaints on Wednesday. Senior Captain Tamra Marris said jellyfish are pretty much at the mercy of the wind and the current and show up at any time.

Marris said one of the most basic and important things to do when you go to the beach is to always swim in front of the lifeguards. She said just ask the lifeguards what the jellyfish situation is, especially if the purple flag is flying.

All sting victims were treated and released on Wednesday. Marris said if you do get stung, just head to the nearest lifeguard stand or flag down a lifeguard truck for treatment.
