Volusia Beaches Wave Red Flag This Weekend As 1 Man Died & Several Were Rescued

Volusia County, FL – Volusia County Beach Safety flew the red flag Friday as several people were pulled from the ocean and after one man died.

At around 12:45 PM Friday, an adult man was pulled from the water in Ormond Beach. At the time, he was unresponsive and when he was taken to Halifax Health Hospital, he was pronounced dead. His family is currently being notified, so his name has not been released.

The Truck Fever event also brought large crowds to Volusia’s beaches where there were many calls to Beach Safety about parking, traffic and noise violations.

Beach Safety says they will fly the red flag all weekend as there are dangerous rip current conditions. A midday high tide is expected Saturday and Sunday and beach ramps are expected to close due to the tide as they did Friday.
