Deltona, FL4/22/18 Update: The 26-year-old Deltona man killed Saturday in what appears to be an accidental shooting has been identified as Dalton Kinkaid of 2692 Corrigan Drive.

Witnesses who were at the home at the time of the incident said a roommate had gone to the shooting range earlier that day and complained about a problem with his handgun. He put the weapon on a kitchen counter and watched Kinkaid pick the gun up to inspect it. The roommate turned around to open the refrigerator and that's when he heard the gunshot.

The roommate and two other people who were in the house rushed to Kinkaid to try and help while one called 911 at about 5:45 PM. The victim, who was shot in the head, died just moments later. Investigators at the scene said the shooting appeared to be an accident.
