VCSO Seeking New Employees

DeLand, FL - The Volusia County Sheriff's Office is hiring, and they're looking for those wanting to serve the community.

VCSO announced on Friday (October 12th) that the agency is recruiting, searching for those interested in a career serving the community.

They premiered a new recruitment video on their facebook to make a big push for potential candidates and to make people aware of the opportunities available.

Some of the requirements for the job include a high school diploma or a GED, a valid Florida driver's license, and completion of the Minimum Standards Course required by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission for officers.

Applicants will also be considered if they're enrolled in a Florida Law Enforcement Academy.

According to VCSO, applicants must also meet the qualifications set forth in section 943.13 of the Florida Statute with entails:

  • At least 19 years old
  • US Citizen
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • No felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving perjury or a false statement
  • No dishonorable or undesirable discharge from the Armed Forces of the United States
  • Fingerprints must be on file with the employing agency
  • Pass a physical examination by a licensed physician based on specifications established by the commission
  • Good morla character as determined by a background investigation under procedures established by the Commission
  • Must have a valid FL driver's license
  • Must go under a polygraph, psychological examination and background investigation
  • Must complete the VCSO Field Training and Evaluation Program
  • Must pass shooting assessment and physical test to qualify for an interview.
