Edgewater, FL - Investigators are trying to figure out who kicked open a woman's front door before ransacking the inside of her home.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office says that a woman left her Clinton Cemetery Road home around 9:30 yesterday morning (May 8th) to go to work.

When she returned home around 3:30 p.m., she noticed that her front door had been kicked in.

The report says that the woman walked into the home and found pieces of the door frame on the floor, before she looked around to see that her home had been ransacked.

According to the woman, over $600 worth of items were stolen from her bedroom.

That includes a pair of 1/4 carat diamond earrings, her husband's gold band, a wedding ring, as well as around $200 worth of change and dollar bills and a wooden jewelry box.

The office of her home was also ransacked, but nothing had been stolen, according to the report.

Deputies have already checked the pawn database for the stolen items, but none of them have been located yet.

VCSO says the case is still active and the investigation is ongoing.
