VCSO: Edgewater Man Arrested For 11 Counts Of Child Pornography

Posted

Edgewater, FL - An Edgewater man, who was in the process of trying to adopt a child, has been arrested on 11 counts of child pornography, according to Volusia County Sheriff's Office (VCSO). 38-year-old Erik Thomas Deemer was arrested at his home on Willow Oak Dr. in Edgewater on Thursday night. VCSO says Deemer had been investigated since October after VCSO's Child Exploitation Unit received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. As a result of the investigation, deputies found numerous pictures and videos depicting child pornography in Deemer's possession. The images showed male and female children, mostly appearing to be between four and nine years old. A child was bound by rope and tape in one of the images. Other children, appearing to be between ages seven and nine, were wearing diapers, and one older child seemed to be using a pacifier. Deemer was being held on $165,000 bail as of Friday morning, and his child adoption process has been halted, according to VCSO. Detectives are continuing to investigate the case in an effort to identify any of the child victims. So far, detectives have not been able to identify any local victims. If you have any information that may help investigators identify the victims, please contact the VCSO Child Exploitation Unit at 386-254-1537.
